So, we had some snow! And it was a very big deal.

The children played outside with Daddy, sledding on a makeshift sled and tasting snow. And getting very cold and wet (we don’t keep things like snowpants and snowboots around here) but nothing a warm bath and some hot chocolate wouldn’t cure.

It was so nice to be quiet around the house, since the roads were impassable and it was too cold to go out anyways. Days spent in pajamas, spending time with each other and watching the gorgeousness outside. To celebrate the event, we made snowflakes,

practiced some new artwork,

(found this book at a yard sale several years ago, and I had no idea how much fun the children would have making little thumbprint people!)
read to each other,

(can I just insert here how much I love my new camera? Check out that lighting!)
built towers (again in the pajamas),

and tried to keep warm.

In other news, the pregnancy is progressing really well! We thought I was about 8 or 9 weeks along, but an ultrasound yesterday revealed I was a whopping “almost 11 weeks”! What a surprise, and what a huge encouragement. This is the best I have felt out of any pregnancy (ever), which is an incredible relief. We heard (and saw) the heartbeat, and that little baby was dancin’ all around. Really, really great to see all of that.
I have had a few moments in the past couple weeks to start a new project, and I am so happy with how it’s turning out. A new quilt for Charlotte! The fabrics seem to suit her perfectly, and she loves to watch me work on it. Hopefully she’ll have this quilt for a long, long time, and remember watching Mommy work on it.

Thanks for helping with this, Aunt Gail!

What a punkin, eh?

She loves to say “cheese!” for the camera.

Her sister is a cutie too, isn’t she? Small friends are so wonderful.

I take it most of you have been cold lately? Not sure about everyone else, but we just don’t prepare for those kind of temperatures very often. So, we stay inside! And bake cookies! And drink lots of hot chocolate! And try to keep children entertained by thinking of fun projects and new games. Sometimes we all need our quiet time, though…stealing away underneath a new bed is a good idea.

Cozy breakfasts help, too.

But sometimes, playing in the dirt is just too hard to resist, no matter how cold it is…

I, however, have not been playing in the dirt. Attempting to get some spring sewing done, to get a head start on things. Here are two dresses, finished for the girls. For Ivy, we have a lovely green:

And for the very lovely Charlotte, a red sunny dress that seems to just suit her sweet smilin’ face:

Now, spring…please feel free to arrive anytime. You just don’t need to worry that it’s still January…we’ll welcome you all the same.
We sure are!

Arrival due sometime in August.
